Book Review Guidelines

I am unable to accept any requests at this moment in time, as I'm currently working on my own novel. But keep an eye on this page as this will change soon.

If you sent me a request a while back and I have not replied... I'm not ignoring you. I have literally been snowed under with writing and personal commitments. But I will get back to you as soon as possible even if it's to say I can't do it.

To request a review, please email me using the contact form in the Contact page of this website and adding 'REVIEW REQUEST - Name of the Book' as the subject line. That will make it easier for me to find our past conversations. Please also add your book blurb so I can let you know if I'm able to review it for you.

General Information & Disclaimer 
I love reading but I'm not a professional reviewer. All the opinions expressed on this website are my own, unless otherwise stated, and I source most of my information online. 

I am always glad to receive ARCs and books - preferably hard copies, although ebooks are equally welcomed - from publishers, authors and publicists. I also try to give independent authors an equal space.

If your book is releasing at a certain date, please let me know so I can assess if I can read it before then. I do try to prioritize release dates if the book is yet to be released.

The receiving of reading material does not in any shape or form influence my review or signify an exchange of favours. Although I do not like to shred a book to pieces and try to be as objective as possible, my opinion is always honest. If I don't enjoy your book, I will do my best to say it in the nicest possible way but I will still say it.

Preferred Genres:
I love Romance in all its forms, including Romantasy, as well as the occasional Crime Thriller. Anything with a hint of romance usually gets me interested. I am a hopeless romantic after all!

If I say no to a review request, it's not because I didn't think the book was good enough. It's because I was afraid that the fact I don't particularly like the storyline might result in a bias review. I can only be objective up to a point. If I don't enjoy Earl Grey Tea and I have to drink it, it will be a little hard to come up with something better than a sour face and "it tastes OK."

What Is Included in My Reviews:

Book cover image - while I'm reading it, the cover will also feature on the Currently Reading section on the homepage of this website, and on my Currently Reading on Goodreads, where I keep tabs of my reading progress.
Book synopsis - taken from the book's back cover, Goodreads or a short description by me, whichever suits the review best.
Book specs - such as page number, genre, in what format I read it, release date if applicable, and publisher's name including a link if the publisher is a partner (see more below).
A short review - bitesize version of what I thought.
Short teaser - My favourite quote or scene from the book, done in such a way as to not spoil it for the reader.
A heart rate - for how much I enjoyed it. See the Book Reviews page for an explanation of the ratings.
A smut score - for the spice lovers out there.
An affiliate link - for those wishing to buy the book.
And a detailed review - a more in depth look at plot, characters, smut and romance score, writing style and prose, as well as any curiosities about the book or author that I'm aware of.

While I try to cover all these, I don't necessarily cover every single one of them every time. Again, I try to be as objective as possible and word my comments in a constructive way, as I do respect the fact that a book is somebody's hard work rather I like it or not. However, I will always give it my honest opinion.

If I disclose a spoiler, I will always give the reader an opportunity to avoid reading it by adding a warning note at the beginning of the paragraph. I also try to write the review so that if you don't read the spoiler, it doesn't affect the rest of it. Spoilers are normally given when I'm giving an example of something I liked of disliked about the storyline or plot.

Social Media

If I'm reviewing your book, it's very likely I'll talk about it in one of my social media channels, which include Tiktok, Instagram, Goodreads, Facebook and Twitter X.

Review Listings

Within the website you will find all the books I've reviewed listed by genre, heart rating, smut score, and alphabetically by author and title.

I also add a short version of my review to Goodreads and Amazon or Waterstones if I have bought the book there and am allowed to.

Please contact me via the Contact page if you would like to work with me. Sponsorship, endorsement agreements or freebies do not guarantee a positive review.

Complaints

If you find the information I have used is wrong or incorrect, or you would like me to update or change any details like addresses or phone numbers, or if you are at all unhappy with anything, please just drop me a note via the Contact page on this site and I will do my best to resolve the matter. The only thing I will not compromise on is the integrity and honesty of my reviews, but I am open and glad to receive any feedback on this website and on my own writing.
